AURA began with beauty. It grew into the place where all the other parts of a very full life finally get to live together.
I’m Aura: Dominican-born, New York-raised, endlessly curious, beauty obsessed, book collecting, career driven, and incapable of pretending women become less interesting after 40.
I started AurasMakeupBox because I fell in love with makeup later than most people and wanted somewhere to talk about it. Over the years, that little beauty corner followed me through work, travel, relationships, changing tastes, changing priorities, and becoming a woman with a lot more to say than what was in her makeup bag.
This is not a perfect-life blog. It’s a full-life one.
These days AURA is the beauty desk, the bookshelf, New York, the boarding pass, the outfit laid across the bed, the ambitious career, the ridiculous special edition I absolutely did not need, and the personal chapters happening in between.

The point of AURA
There is no age at which curiosity, style, ambition, romance, adventure or reinvention becomes embarrassing. A beautiful life doesn’t have an expiration date. This is where I document mine.
