5 stars · A suspicious academy, forbidden magic, enemies-to-lovers tension and a cliffhanger designed to ruin my evening.

Malachite pulled me into Valmora with Aria, an academy I immediately did not trust, and enough unanswered questions around Lukas to keep me suspicious of basically everyone. That is a compliment.

Sebastian brings the enemies-to-lovers tension, but the friendships and found-family pieces were just as important to me. The forbidden magic and the sense that the institution knows more than it is saying made the world feel like it had secrets tucked behind every door.

By the time the cliffhanger arrived, I had theories, questions and absolutely no patience for waiting. Five stars.
