Heir of Fire is the kind of book that understands becoming powerful and feeling powerful are not the same thing.
Celaena arrives carrying grief, anger and exhaustion, and so much of this story is about stripping away the version of herself built purely to survive. The training is physical, but the real work is emotional.
The world also gets dramatically bigger here. New places, new powers, new threats and new characters make it feel like the series has stepped through a door into its true scale.
I loved watching her fight her way back toward herself. Five stars.
