Fury Bound

5 stars · Darker, bigger and meaner in exactly the way a sequel should be.

Fury Bound takes everything that worked for me in Dire Bound and raises the temperature. The world is at war, trust gets harder, betrayals cut deeper and Meryn has to grow into a version of herself that can survive what is coming.

The tension with Stark is still doing exactly what it needs to do, but the sequel also gives the direwolves, politics and larger conflict more room. There were plot turns I did not see coming and several moments where I had to stop and reconsider who I trusted.

And that ending? Rude. Effective, but rude. Five stars, and now I am the person asking when book three is coming.
