6 stars · The sequel that took the world I already loved and made it hurt more.

City of Souls and Sinners deepened everything I loved about City of Gods and Monsters. The plot gets thicker, the emotional stakes get heavier and grief sits over so much of the story without flattening the characters beneath it. Kayla Edwards lets the world expand while keeping Darien Cassel, Loren and the Devils at the emotional center.

I loved the found-family energy, the romance and the sense that every answer opened another door. The twists kept coming, but the book never felt like it was moving pieces around just for shock value. The pain mattered because the relationships mattered first.

And then the ending happened. Six stars. I am still not discussing it calmly.
