Blood Bound

6 stars · Dragons, witches, familiars, political tension, sisterhood and a slow burn. I never had a chance.

Blood Bound hit so many of my fantasy buttons that at some point I stopped pretending I was going to read it responsibly. Dragons? Yes. Witches and magic? Yes. Familiars, political tension, sisterhood and a romance taking its time? Also yes.

What kept me invested was that the world had enough going on beyond the romance. The magic and political threads gave the story weight, while the relationships made me care what all of that danger actually cost.

Six stars because five did not feel like enough — and my immediate reaction at the end was very simple: where is book two?
