Ace & Ember
5 stars · A hacker heroine, brother’s-best-friend tension, morally gray loyalty and enough suspense to keep the romance sharp.
Evie being a hacker immediately gave Ace & Ember a different energy for me, and pairing that with Ace — her brother’s best friend and exactly the sort of forbidden complication that guarantees trouble — made the setup very easy to fall into.
The romance has heat, but what I enjoyed was the loyalty underneath it. The characters live in morally gray territory, so affection and protection do not always arrive in neat, healthy-looking packages. That tension works especially well alongside the suspense.
It is romantic, messy, protective and spicy without losing the plot around the couple. Five stars.
