5 stars · Messy healing, female rage, friendship, training and a heroine allowed to be difficult.

A Court of Silver Flames works because Nesta is not required to become easy to love before the story lets her be worthy of love.

She is angry. Defensive. Hurting. Sometimes infuriating. And the book lets healing be ugly instead of turning it into a montage where one good conversation fixes years of pain.

I loved the emphasis on women finding strength with and through one another. The training, the friendships and the decision to keep getting back up give Nesta’s story an identity beyond romance—even though, yes, the chemistry absolutely has its own agenda.

By the time I finished this, the series that almost lost me in book one had completely conquered me. Five stars.
