A Court of Frost and Starlight

3 stars · A quieter bridge between wars that I appreciated more as character time than as a full story.

I understand what A Court of Frost and Starlight is doing. After everything these characters survive, there is value in seeing them breathe, rebuild, shop, celebrate and try to figure out what normal looks like.

But coming off the momentum of the first three books, this felt slight to me. It reads more like an extended interlude than the kind of emotionally consuming installment I had become used to.

I enjoyed being back with the characters and I appreciate what it sets up, especially knowing where the series goes next. I just didn’t feel the same urgency or payoff.

Three stars: pleasant time in Prythian, useful connective tissue, but not one of my ACOTAR obsessions.
